A full padded induction room leads into the large open plan surgical suite with an overhead hoist and a fully adjustable hydraulic operating table. This system allows for the whole range of equine surgical procedures to be carried out safely.

Orthopaedics and arthroscopy

Lameness investigation forms an important part of the work of the Isle Valley Equine Clinic. The facilities include a purpose-built trot up area to allow the evaluation of lameness before and after nerve blocking.

Specialised joint blocks are used to pinpoint areas of lameness so that ultrasound scanners and a powerful digital x-ray machine can be used to identify the source of the problem.

Hospitalisation allows us to utilise all these facilities so even the most challenging lameness can then be worked up successfully.

Reproduction

Reduced fertility is a frustrating problem which we have the expertise to help solve.

Reproduction is a large part of the practise workload working at public studs as well as with individual mares.

Our facilities include:

• bacteriology
• cytology
• ultrasound
• uterine biopsy
• hysteroscopy
• reproductive surgery
• embryo transfer.
