Animal Care Assistant Vacancy

We are looking for an Animal Care Assistant to join our veterinary practice on a maternity cover contract for approximately 6–12 months.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining the day-to-day care of our patients with some reception and client-facing duties. We are looking for someone who is passionate about animal welfare, enjoys working with people and animals, and can provide a friendly, professional service to our clients and their pets.

Duties will include:

· Providing care, comfort and attention to animals staying at the practice.

· Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the practice.

· Assisting the veterinary team with the day-to-day care of patients.

· Monitoring patients and reporting any concerns to the clinical team.

· Welcoming clients and their pets to the practice.

· Answering telephone calls, booking appointments and dealing with client enquiries.

· Processing payments and carrying out general reception and administrative duties.

· Supporting the wider team to ensure the smooth running of the practice.

Previous experience as an Animal Care Assistant or within a veterinary practice would be advantageous.

Contract: Fixed-term maternity cover, approximately 6–12 months.

Hours: 3-4 days per week plus 1 in 5 Saturday mornings

Pay: National Living Wage (NLW).
